Hey all, Welcome to Geeksforjobs
Good afternoon everyone I am Simran Shriwas and today I am discussing about a very important subject which is “democracy”.
It is a form of government where individuals have the power to choose their governing law.
The major questions of democratic theory, construction and constitution are who are the people and how is there power among them.
What is democracy?
Democracy is a form of government in which the rules, policies, leadership and major undertakings of a state or other government are determined directly or indirectly by citizens, a community traditionally represented by only a minority of the population (e.g. All free adult males to all sufficiently owned adult males in ancient Athens or 19th century Britain) but are widely understood from the mid-2020s.
Where was democracy first?
Studies of contemporary non-literate tribal societies and other figures indicate that in prehistoric times, democracy was prevalent within hunter-gatherers, generally speaking. The transition to inhabited agrarian communities has led to wealth and power disparities between communities and between non-democratic hierarchical forms of social organization. Thousands of years later, a relatively democratic form of government was introduced to the city-state of Athe in the 6th century BCE.
The efficacy of democracy has been questioned by some economists citing the notion of an irrational voter or voter who makes decisions without all the evidence or the knowledge necessary to actually make informed decisions. Another point is that democracy slows down processes because of the feedback and involvement necessary to move forward with the decision. The high economic growth achieved by China (a non-compensatory) is often a common example to substantiate this argument.
Democracy is literally public governance. The term is derived from the Greek drmokratiā, which was coined in the middle of the 5th century BC from d’mos (‘people’) and kratos (‘rules’), to denote political systems, which some Greeks City-states exist, notably Athens. .
