Kali Linux – This is a Debian-base Linux distribution. Its goal is advanced penetration testing. It also conducts security audits. There are several hundred devices. It is used to learn hacks.

Requirements: Installing Kali Linux

  • One flashable USB (minimum 8 GB).
  • A flashing software (eg Rufus).
  • ISO file of the Kali Linux operating system.
  • 25 GB free hard disk space.

Follow the following steps: Installation Kali Linux

  • 1. To dual boot any OS, we need to create a separate space in our hard disk.
    • We can create a separate space using disk partitions.
      • Click on Start and find “Disk Management”.

  • 2. Right-click drive D or E (or C) and choose “Shrink Volume” from the drop-down menu.
    • Enter the desired location for the black OS (not less than 25000MB).
      • Click “Shrink” after resizing.
        • You can see that a new partition will be available which will be unrelated.

  • 3.Now we need to create a bootable flash disk and for that, I am using Rufus.
    • Insert your Pendrive and launch Rufus.

  • As the initial stage is performed.

Some settings in BIOS mode:

  • Restart your computer and “hold down”F10“,”F11“or”ESCButton to open BIOS mode.
    • Go to option “The boot“Disabled or impaired then”fastboot“.
    • Also “disabled”Get started“.

  • Save these settings and start with the installation of Kali Linux.
    • Scroll down to select your bootable flash disk and press Enter.

Below are the steps to be followed carefully for installation (Skip any step):

1. Select “Graphical Install” from the options in the boot menu and press Enter.

2. Select your language and continue.

9. Choose “Manual” to install and continue Kali Linux at a particular location in this step.

10. Select “Guided Partition” and make sure that you see the free space you have created through Windows Disk Management.

11. Select “Create a new partition” and continue.

13 Select “Logical” and continue.

14. And choose “Begin” and continue.

15. Double click on the “Use as:” option to proceed to the next screen.

16. From the Partition Disk options, select “Swap Sphere” and continue.

18. Now you need to keep a close eye and pay attention to “Swap Area” and “Free Space” and then click continue.

19. On the next screen, we have to set a volume again and now choose “Automatically Free Space Partition”. This will select the entire remaining free space.

20. Select the very first option box all files and continue.

21. Click the last option to end the partition and continue.

22. It will ask to write the changes to the hard drive, select “Yes” and click Continue.

23. Inside the GRUB boot loader, select “Yes” and continue.

24. Select “Enter Captivate Manually” to install and continue grub.

25. To complete the grub installation for a few minutes.

Click on the installation media and click Continue.

27. Normally the installation is complete and you can see both Windows 10 and Kali Linux in the boot menu.

Note: The default username for Kali Linux will be “root”.
